Energy Tour, Wednesday October 15th

Energy experience and educational tours for IGEC25 participants. Visit and learn about energy projects in Iceland from experts.

Tours depart Reykjavik downtown by bus at 09.00, arriving back to downtown at around 19.00.

Price - 198 EUR per person. Included: bus fee, qualified guide, lunch, entrance fees and light refreshments during the tour.

The Energy Tour departs from the bus stop outside Harpa Conference Center at 9:00 AM on Wednesday morning.

Itinerary:

The journey begins toward Lake Þingvallavatn, passing through the scenic Grafningur area with a stop to explore Nesjavallavirkjun from above.

Next, the tour continues to Ljósafossvirkjun Hydropower Station for a guided visit from 10:30 AM to noon, including the power plant and its visitor center operated by the National Power Company.

Following the visit, the tour proceeds for lunch before heading to the iconic Gullfoss waterfall and Geysir geothermal area, where the natural power and striking landscapes of Iceland can be experienced firsthand. Along the way, guests will see greenhouses that grow vegetables under the Arctic sky, powered by geothermal heat and hydroelectric energy.

By 16:30 PM, the tour arrives at Hellisheiðarvirkjun Geothermal Power Station for a guided exploration of its technical innovations and sustainability initiatives, including Carbfix.

The estimated return to Reykjavík downtown is around 19:00 PM.
