Author: JONGBIN WOO (Chungnam National University) - This study investigates the optimal fuel cell and battery operating strategies to improve the driving performance of FC-REEV city buses in low-temperature environments. A simulation model was developed using MATLAB/Simulink® based on Hyundai Elec City specifications. The study focuses on optimal fuel cell sizing and evaluates three SOC-based operating strategies. As a result, an 100kW fuel cell and the high-efficiency operation strategy were found to provide the best performance and energy efficiency under cold conditions.
