17. Alþjóðlega ráðstefnan IGEC25 er með áherslu á þróun grænna orkugjafa og notkun gervigreindar í orkumálum, til hagsbóta fyrir umhverfið, fólkið og fyrirtækin.

IGEC Ráðstefnan er haldin árlega, 2023 í Glasgow og 2024 í Ningbo í Kína, og dregur til sín flesta helstu alþjóðlega sérfræðinga og hagsmunaaðila á fagsviðinu þar á meðal fjölmarga virta vísindamenn frá alþjóðlega háskólasamfélaginu auk annara.

Með styrk frá Örvar, verkefni menningar-, nýsköpunar- og háskólaráðuneytis, er í samráði Arctic Portal, Háskóla Ísland og Háskólans á Akureyri stuðlað að virkri þátttöku íslenskra háskólanemenda í ráðstefnunni. 15 íslenskum háskólanemum verður veitt tækifæri á virkri þátttöku í ráðstefnunni og til verkefnakynningar í vinnustofum ráðstefnunnar. Samhliða verður möguleiki á að framlagðar greinar (papers) fái alþjóðlega ritrýnda birtingu í erlendum fagtímaritum tengdum erlendu ráðstefnuhöldurunum. 

Opið er fyrir umsóknir um verkefnakynningar. Notast skal við formið HÉR. Frestur til að skila tillögum að verkefnalýsingum sem verði kynntar ítarlegar á IGEC ráðstefnunni í Hörpu 12-14 október er til 15 ágúst.

Þátttakendur verði valdir úr hópi innsendra verkefnalýsinga á hlutlausan hátt af valnefnd skipaðri af fulltrúum Háskóla Íslands og Háskólans á Akureyri. Ef ekki berast fullnægjandi umsóknir að mati valnefndar verður umsóknarfrestur mögulega framlengdur.

Fagmenn munu verða til taks til að veita nemum ráðgjöf við frekari útfærslu verkefnakynninga þeirra.

Þátttökugjald á ráðstefnuna er styrkt að fullu fyrir þá nema sem valdir eru til að halda kynningar.

Grant for University Students studying in Iceland to participate in IGEC25

The 17th International Green Energy Conference (IGEC25) focuses on the development of green energy sources and the use of artificial intelligence in energy systems, for the benefit of the environment, people, and businesses.

The IGEC conference is held annually, in 2023 it was hosted in Glasgow and in 2024 in Ningbo, China. The conference attracts most of the leading international experts and stakeholders in the field, including many respected scientists from the global academic community, among others.

With support from Örvar, a project funded by the Ministry of Culture, Innovation, and Higher Education, and in collaboration with Arctic Portal, the University of Iceland, and the University of Akureyri, the initiative promotes active participation of Icelandic university students in the conference. Fifteen students from Icelandic universities will be given the opportunity to actively participate in the conference and present their projects in conference workshops. Additionally, there will be the possibility for submitted papers to be published in international peer-reviewed journals affiliated with the foreign conference organizers.

Applications for project presentations are now open. The application form is available HERE. The deadline to submit project descriptions to be presented in more detail at the IGEC conference in Harpa, October 12–14, is August 15.

Participants will be selected from the pool of submitted project descriptions in an impartial manner by a selection committee composed of representatives from the University of Iceland and the University of Akureyri. If the committee determines that the quality or number of applications is insufficient, the application deadline may be extended.

Professionals will be available to provide students with guidance in further developing their project presentations.

Participation fees for the conference will be fully covered for the selected students.

Students from outside the capital area are eligible to receive a travel grant.
